Tunbridge Wells IFA hosts event on career options outside of uni

Helping fellow young professionals get off to a flying start

A Tunbridge Wells-based financial adviser is helping fellow young professionals get off to a flying start by organising a networking event featuring a high-profile guest speaker.

Ross Jefferies adviser at Panoramic Wealth Management, is hosting the event this week, with Paralympic sprint champion Liam Malone appearing as the keynote speaker.

New Zealander Malone won 200m and 400m gold, as well as 100m silver, in the T44 category at the 2016 Paralympics.

23-year-old Jefferies came into contact with Malone through his podcast, The Bull Sessions, in which Jefferies, two old friends and fellow young professionals interview successful millennials.

Around 50 people attended last year’s inaugural event, and Jefferies, who is also a member of NextGen Planners, told the Times of Tunbridge Wells the event presents a rare opportunity for young professionals to make connections and discuss their careers.

He said: ‘I did not go to university and started at Panoramic Wealth when I was 19. You used to need a degree to get through the door, but now so many have one it is no longer the be all and end all.

‘I was fortunate with my father having the business. But not everyone has that opportunity and more needs to be done in schools to say that having a degree is not the only option.’

Jefferies highlighted the importance for local firms to start succession planning, and for young people to give greater consideration to starting locally instead of flocking to London.
